Knocking noise

Hi all hope someone can shed some light  I replaced my sads last weekend which went ok so I thought .. I followed the tutorial . Engine quiet as a whistle on tick over now ... But another problem occured upon starting I get a couple of knocking noises and upon switching off ... So I took the prop shaft off again and redid it to no avail .... Now for the more info bit I marked the front bush but didn't mark the rear as that was already marked .. Now for the life of me I can't remember if I checked when I marked the the front ... So when I redid it I just popped the back 1 out and moved it to the next point ... Now is it sods law that it's the next notch  Or could there be another factor  It runs fine no other knocking noises at all ...

the mane part to worry about is if the raised parts on the sad is going into the right place and the horse shoe is back to where it should be. are you sure the knocking noise is because of the shaft. could just be the exhaust knocking when switching on the engine and off, mine does

All the raised sad all slotted into place ... .as regards to horseshoe it just bolted back together ... I did notice that when I bolted it up to main frame it sat at back of bracket as before it sat at front , but I pushed it forward to front and no difference    I just assuming its coming from shaft as i don't recall it doing or before hand ...

its that bottom bolt on the horse shoe that's the biggest factor It aliens the whole front unit. If you have lot the point where it should sit i found the only way to line it is to loosen the bottom nut with the engine running get somebody to push the front unit till the noise stops and tighten the nut.
did the knocking start straight after you did the sads or a little while after. I'm still putting my money on the exhaust especially if you have a towbar.

Yeah the noise started straight after ... Just a thought the rear sad coupling the raised parts didn't slot into the carrier on the bus just bolted them up ...

im sure they should slot in to the carrier just dont need a nut on them.

I'll recheck but sure they didn't slot in as I had to keep turning shaft to find bolt holes  But I'll check carrier horseshoe keep you posted

should deffinatly slot on. when i did it i sat the carrier on the sad first then moved it in to position. you have to have the bottom nut on the horse shoe undone to do it. I have a feeling this is what your knocking noise is.

Oh right I attached sad to shift 1st then twisted shift to fit carrier .. As I looked at it thought that be way to do it as there no room to fit nuts because the slots upto what looks like a pully wheel and no room to fit nuts and washers  :

The carrier on mine don't look like that front  1 does  The carrier looks more in the pulley wheel

Think best thing for me to do is take it back off  ... Because if  it's suppose to slot on its not for some reason It did on the front ones .

thats a picture of the pully wheel and the carrier going in to it. there are groves on the pully wheel where the carrier sits. I can only assume the carrier didnt fall out when you removed the sad. It has to come out because the main bolt for the pully wheel is behind it

The carrier deffently doesn't stick out like that 1 does

it does sit in to the pully wheel, not much of it stands out. In that photo its pulled out. and being pushed in to the shaft.
