lamp failure thingy
« on: April 15, 2012, 06:49:53 PM »

Lamp failure sensor on my estima burnt out last night, taking the tail lights and the brake lights with it. After spending a couple of hours trying to work out what had failed, I found the little red box behind the side trim in the boot. Serious head scratching followed as these are really expensive to replace. So I ordered one on ebay and then realised I'd be better off, bypassing the bloody thing altogether.

White/green wire to tail light
Green to brake light

Job done!

This is an easy job if you have a circuit tester...and a few spare fuses for when you prod the wrong thing!

Anyway, the whole point of this post is...I have a replacement little red box if anyone needs one, it's yours for a couple of quid to cover the postage, but to be honest, I think it's a better bet to just bypass it....I assume people will now tell me that on now account should I have done that because the car will blow up!

Glad you sorted it out... that little red box only lights a dash bulb to let you know a rear brake light bulb has gone...so no big loss if not connected.. Tongue
Just means you'll have to manually check rear lights more often... Wink

Yeah my dash light (BULB FAILURE) always came on when lights where used, deffo distracting,so when I checked out the rear clusters they were like SPAGGETTI Junction cos some one had fitted a tow bar + scotch locked every bloody thing Sad
So I removed the bulb in the dash when I changed em to leds + when I had a free afternoon I removed the tow bar and all the rubbish that goes with it.
