A blocked intercooler will definitely cause starting and running problems. Thats what cools the air down before it gets into the engine. Partial blockage of air, means extremely rich mixture, leading to poor burning of fuel, carboning up of exhausts, and a big fail for the emissions on the MOT on top.

Don't know if I'm keeping it or not yet, but as I'm going in hospital on Monday for operations on both hands, i need to sort it out this weekend, I'm going picking an intercooler up from a mates scrapyard in a bit but wont be fitting it until tomorrow as i want to leave it soaking in petrol over night, Steve

latest on the car, fitted the intercooler on Saturday, the car started first time, then left it until Sunday, went out and it started first time again, went out in the car for a long run stopped and started it a few times without any problems, the cars not been touched since Sunday as i was in Hospital on Monday for some operations to my hands, Wednesday was at Hospital again with the foot that i broke before Christmas, as its still broke Ive now got a big boot on for another six weeks, being pestered buy the guy that wanted me to fix it before he bought it, but now he doesn't want to pay me for fixing it, (it was being sold as spares or repair), so the question now is do i let him have it, do i re list on ebay, or do i keep hold of it? Steve

Now Shreks running fine again I'd keep him... as you've already done the biggest jobs.
Anything else that happens in the future we're here to help if we can..
Plus you know you'll never find a vehicle like your esti again...
