hi every one got my bus all sorted now nearly ... flew through m.o.t  all seems be running fine now .... only a few things to sort out now 1 being engine management lights still on and the gararage said its to old for them to take it off .... ive been looking at the leads and that to sort it but can only fine the 16pin connectors ... ive found and adapter from japan on ebay .... does anyone know if these adapters work ... ive got a 95 previa ..... if anyone can give advice on leads and on software that works it be highly greatfull many thanks everyone for the help and advice so far

Toyota fault codes found on this site should help i think it if you disconnect the battery wait a few minutes then cross connect the two wires together it cleared the ecu then reconnect to see if the fault returns

hiya  is that cross connecting the 2 battery wires to the battery so connect the earth to the positive on the battery ..... wont that blow anything ..... just checking

reverse polarity on the electrics isnt something I would try.

simply disconnecting the battery for 5-10 mins will clear the code.
(I was always taught to leave the sidelights switched to on when doing batterys as if there is a spike, the sidelights will take the surge, not the ecu and airbags etc!)

Looks like you do need a pre OBII connector to read the older previa/estima/lucida's... How much is the one on ebay you seen? may be worth a punt?

hi thanks for reply the 17 pin adapter is £6.99 then id have to get norm 1 ........ any ideal of the software id need though ill try battery this weekend . if that dont clear it ill try getting the adapter

Aye it's OBII but to read diagnostics a cheaper alternative is a paperclip usually does the job, short out terminals E1 and TE1 and counting the flashes of the engine management light. To clear the codes taking the battery off for a few minutes does the job nicely

well i disconnected batt for a few hrs when i was trying to tint the windows ..... but light came back on so must be a fault somewhere ..... did think it was knock sensar when head blew .... but it dont seam to be limp when driving and it flew through m.o.t last wk ..... so looks like looking for a dianostics for it but i cant find 1 on ebay ..... so does the paperclip work and tell me which sensar as gone
