Been there done that, we've all had a rather sceptical other half when starting out on veg she'll get used to it soon enough when she sees the savings
My delivery was cancelled and as far as I know the promised delivery of veg never made it to Fife

Its not quite as simple as posted earlier mate but not far from it.
Firstly you can put it straight in the tank but top up with diesel about 75/25 - 3ltr oil to 1ltr diesel, which is on the safe side as many will state!! some people run higher % well,at least in this weather, but the extra diesel helps to thin it down and soothe those old pump seals.OR you can do the same mix but hold it in a barrel/bath tub???!! lol till it mixes but most people just add it to the tank where it gets well mixed after driving over some of the monster pot holes we still have!!
Second is you can mix it with petrol which sets of a minor chemical reaction its thought and helps it to thin nicely, some people think it thins down easier this way but to be honest im yet to try so cant say for sure.
Personally, on mine with a 3CT engine and the older mechanical pump,in this weather i run it 75/25 straight in the tank and have done for ages, never had an issue,in real cold weather like last winter i steered clear of it as it doesnt like getting cold and becomes thick and can cause fuel line/filter blockages,so common sense really,I only ever use fresh veg though so dont get confused with waste veg or WVO from someone, its a different kettle of fish,or chips, spring rolls ha ha ha h!!!!!! and needs more work filtering etc.
The worst ive seen happen is the fuel pump seals go but thats really down to the age of the seals when it starts running on veg and struggling to hold the slightly extra effort of moving the thicker veg oil,it will not cause any problems elsewhere and will infact help with your MOT emissions [dont tell the tester!]
If your wifes unsure just add a small bottle at time until she accepts it and knows its not going to breakdown at tescos, they just dont understand!! lol but will understand the £££ saved in time im sure!!!!

Funnily enough I usually only think about oil for frying after filling the car and all my oil has gone in the tank
I remember Daz struggling to find some a few years ago despite being in a field full of veg powered cars he could barely get a hold of enough oil to fry a sausage

Do you need to change the diesel filter after you've used veg oil for the first time? Read in an earlier post that it can lift the muck from the bottom of the tank and block the filter?

no the muck thats in the tank is from the diesel, the veg is just a very good cleaner so if your tank is dirty then it will clean it contact kernoman for a spare fuel filter. pop the veg in go for 50 50 mix veg and diesel. when you feel happy with that slowly up your mix of veg to what you feel comfertable with when i first used it i had no option but to put 90-10 veg mix in but had no problems

It can, and a spare filter is a worthy addition to the glove box. My experience was that I had no problems with just adding veg. Did a fuel filter change at the next service, but had no obvious extra muck in it.
