the old caravan's gone now...
« on: March 18, 2008, 12:07:13 PM »

... took the old caravan away to the breakers this morning - it really wasn't worth saving. Chassis was in a really bad way, the mounting for the gas bottles came away in my hand and I wasn't even trying and you really wouldn't want to try jumping up and down in the middle of it.. Its last journey was 'interesting' - don't know if it was shot bearings or flat-spotted tyres but the towing experience was quite strange, best described as 'surging' from behind.
On the plus side the F**t pulled it like it wasn't there - loads of acceleration (for a people carrier) and round the twisty bits with abandon... bye bye Eccles Amythest Lips sealedLips sealedLips sealed

When you're dealt a shi**y hand, use some soap.

Maybe the surging was it trying to say it didn't want to go..

My old caravan..a 1979 Elddis Cyclone is still in use..... thing weighed in at just over a tonne and caught the wind like a parachute.  Undecided

trouble is the new one is nearly twice as long - thanks goodness for a friendly neighbour, she's a lovely lady who doesn't seem to mind living next door to us too much...
