Which type of baloon are we talking about here? The answer I gave was the earliest known inventer as I didnt know which route to go and there are several names as an answer to this question, like the following.....Joseph and Etienne de Montgolfier, AND The first balloon was invented by the Brazilian priest Bartolomeu de Gusmão, and the first public exhibition was to the Portuguese Court on August 8, 1709. AND In France in 1783 the Robert brothers built the first hydrogen balloon, designed by Jacques Charles. Later that year, the Montgolfier brothers demonstrated their own designs. AND The rubber balloon was invented by Michael Faraday in 1824; it was inflated with hydrogen and used in his experiments. AND FINALLY. The more familiar latex balloons of today were first manufactured in London, 1847, by J.G. Ingram but mass production did not occur until the 1930s.
I remember/hated questions like this in school all those years ago, The fool teachers we had at the time would delight in telling you you were wrong even when the answer was right.................
